To create a new variation, you must first create a quote and then from your manage quote area, you can click on the small dropdown button on the quotes "View / Print" button and select "Convert to Variation".
Once you convert the quote to a variation, you will be taken to the “Manage Variations” area. From here, you can mark it as accepted, print, and email it, just as you can in the quote area.
The variations will carry over the same numbering and print options set on the original quote they are based on, so keep this in mind when creating your variations.

To make changes to a variation, simply select “Convert to Quote,” make the necessary changes, and then convert it back to a variation. The reason for this is that the quote system forms the basis of variations—think of it as a two-part system.
The variation printout has its own style, where the labels and naming clearly reflect that it is a “Variation.” The print style is based on your chosen print stationery in the business settings area.

The main advantage of the variation system is that you can create additional charges or credits without having to go back and edit your initial quote or estimate.
The best practice is to create your main estimate and convert it to a quote. This can then be set as your "contract price" (click for guide) once it has been marked as accepted and the client wishes to proceed. MyConstruct will then use this for logging bills and generating reports.
There's a full guide on setting your chosen quote as a contract price and logging bills against it here: 'Logging Bills against Orders for Job Reporting'.
After everything has been set up and is running, the variation section will appear in the job report as separate values from the main estimate.
This lets you maintain your initial estimate and price without having to alter the estimate with each change or request from the client.

Then finally, the totals will be shown at the bottom.
