A Cost Centre is an estimating term used to describe a category / type of inventory items, think of it as a folder for example the Cost Centre "White goods" would contain your inventory for things such as washers, dryers and refrigerators. It is also commonly related to your inventory item number system or "Cost Codes" which can be linked in accounting software to track inventory, purchase orders and estimates.
Cost Centres are also grouped by "work stages" which helps you add another level to filtering when you're doing an estimate. Cost Centres and work stages live in the "Type of Work".
More information about setting up cost centres can be found here.
